titleOfInvention METHOD FOR THE CONTINUOUS PREPARATION OF TETRAMETHYLTHIURAMDISULFIDE
abstract The invention relates to a process for the continuous preparation of tetramethylthiuram disulfide from aqueous solutions of the alkali metal salts of dimethyldithiocarbamic acid and chlorine in the presence of inert gas as a dismutating agent. Tetramethylthiuram disulfide can be used as a vulcanization aid and as a fungicidal active ingredient in crop protection products and for the protection of materials. The reaction of the starting materials is carried out according to the invention in a 3-stage or multistage reactor cascade while maintaining specific p H values and different chlorine contents of the introduced chlorine / inert gas mixtures in the various reactors. The inert gas can be recycled. Furthermore, the addition of surface-active substances to the reaction mixture is described. Tetramethylthiuram disulfide is obtained in high yield and high purity. The pollution of the environment by pollutants is substantially reduced {tetramethylthiuram disulfide; Alkali metal salts of dimethyldithiocarbamic acid; Chlorine; inert gas; Reactor cascade; Circulation; surface-active substances}
