abstract | In the pressureless two-stage synthesis of high molecular weight polyoxypropylenes to avoid Zwischenentwaesserungen and bypassing the use of defined diols as starting components in a first Oxpropylierungsstufe a low molecular weight polyoxypropylene having a hydroxyl value, which is 2 to 6 times the hydroxyl number of the final product, and aqueous alkali, with which the reaction mixture is adjusted to an alkali number of 45 to 55 mg KOH / g and a water content of 3 to 3.5%, reacted with propylene oxide until the hydroxyl value has again reached 2 to 6 times the hydroxyl number of the end product.
