abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of spray coating powder of polyethylene terephthalate (PETP). The aim and object of the invention is to produce a coating powder based on PETP by a Loese- / Faellverfahren, wherein the solvent has sufficient Loesevermoegen below or at the boiling point at atmospheric pressure and simultaneously acts as a film former without additional modifiers. The object is achieved by using the solvent N-methyl-ecaprolactam at 160 to 180 degrees Celsius and treating the resulting solution according to known treatment steps to give a powder with a relative solution viscosity of greater than or equal to 1.25, with solvents in residual amounts of not more than 3.5% bound by the polymer, remaining.
