abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of reactive derivatives of water-soluble polymers. By nucleophilic substitution reactions between halogen compounds, sulfuric acid esters, nitric acid esters or sulfonic acid esters of water-soluble polymers and sodium azide or aromatic nitro compounds having phenolic hydroxyl groups, water-soluble polymers having azide or aromatic nitro groups are synthesized, the reduction of which yields water-soluble polymers having primary, aliphatic or aromatic amino groups. From the reaction solutions, the amino group-containing, water-soluble polymers are obtained by dialysis, ultrafiltration and freeze-drying or by extraction and precipitation.
