titleOfInvention | METHOD OF CONVERTING AN OUTPUT MIXTURE OF CRYSTALLIZABLE PYRETHROID ISOMERS INTO A DESIRED PESTICIDE, MORE EFFECTIVE ISOMERS |
abstract | The invention relates to a process for the conversion of a starting mixture of crystallizable pyrethroid isomers into desired pesticidally more active isomers. According to the invention, crystallizable pyrethroid isomers or pairs of enantiomers are converted to pesticidally more efficient isomers by contacting a slurry of the starting isomers in a hydrocarbon solvent in which the desired isomers are almost insoluble with a base and a catalyst, the catalyst substantially is soluble in the sludge and is selected from a quaternary ammonium compound, a quaternary phosphonium compound and a crown ether. The slurry is stirred while maintaining a conversion effective temperature. The isomers formed are filtered, decanted, centrifuged and the like. a. be won. The tendency to form benzoin ester by-products is reduced by adding a weak base, an aldehyde starter such as e.g. As a metabisulfite and / or a tetra (C1-C5) alkylammonium halide, dissolved in an aprotic solvent such. As an organic nitrile is added. The method is typically effective for the enrichment of cypermethrin, cyfluthrin and * with the more active isomers. slurry; Hydrocarbon solvent; Base; Catalyst; Stir; Obtaining Desired Crystalline Isomers Soluble in Hydrocarbon Solvents} |
