titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL, MODIFIED DERIVATIVES OF POLYOXYALKYLENE GLYCOLS AND THEIR MONOALKOXY DERIVATIVES
abstract The invention relates to a process for the synthesis of novel, modified derivatives of polyoxyalkylene glycols and their monoalkoxy derivatives. Thiol-modified polymers soluble in aqueous solutions and organic solvents are synthesized by nucleophilic substitution reactions of activated polyoxyalkylene glycols or their monoalkoxy derivatives with sulfur-containing, nucleophilic reagents. The intermediate thiolcarboxylic acid esters, thiuronium salts, substituted thiosulphates, xanthates or dithiourethanes of the polyoxyalkylene glycols or their monoalkoxy derivatives are hydrolytically cleaved and, after the reaction solutions have been acidified, the thiol group-containing polymers are extracted with an organic solvent which is insoluble or miscible in water and isolated from these organic solvents .{Method; nucleophilic substitution; activated derivatives of polyoxyalkylene glycols; thiol groups}
