abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of hydroxamic acid derivatives and to a process for delaying the aging of cut or picked plants. Hydroxamic acid derivatives have the formula wherein q is 1, k is 0 and p is 1; Ar is a phenyl optionally substituted by one or more substituents; L is 0; Ar is 1,3- or 1,4-phenylene; Y (E) Ch Ch is; V is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl; W is C1-4 alkyl and Q is a moiety of the formula wherein m is 1, R1 is hydrogen and R2 is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl.
