titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR PREPARING SUBSTITUTED 2-CYANOMETHYLBENZIMIDAZOLES |
abstract | The invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of substituted 2-cyanomethylbenzimidazoles of the formulas (1) or (2) in which R 1, R 2, R 3, R 4 are substituted by C 1 -C 8 -alkyl, straight-chain or branched, identical or different, or R3-R4 represent a cyclalkyl radical having 1-8 C-atoms by refluxing substituted o-phenylenediamine hydrohalides, sulfates or perchlorates with cyanoacetic acid alkyl esters and pyridine under O3-free atmosphere. After cooling and mixing with water, the precipitated solid is filtered off with suction and dried. The product turns up pure with a yield of 50-70%. Formula (1), (2) |
