titleOfInvention | NAVIGATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE RELATIVE POSITION BETWEEN A FIRST AND AT LEAST ONE OTHER PARTICIPANT |
abstract | The invention relates to a navigation apparatus and method for determining the relative position between a first and at least one other participant without the need for the use of azimuth-measuring apparatuses. The system includes flight distance measuring apparatuses for determining the distance between the first subscriber and the other selected subscriber for at least three selected times. A processor determines the position change of the first participant relative to the second participant during the time periods between the first and second and second and third times and calculates the artificial (and not the measured) azimuth coordinate of the selected other participant relative to the first participant at the third time Function of removing and changing the relative position, whereby the data is supplied by the system. The method includes steps for determining the distance between the two participants at three times, determining the direction change of the first participant relative to the second over the resulting two time intervals, and calculating the non-ambiguous relative position solution as a function of the distances and relative direction changes.
