abstract The invention relates to cosmetic sunscreen preparations with natural herbal active ingredients and processes for their preparation. It is characteristic of the preparations that they contain as active ingredient the aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic extract of the flowers of the elderberry (Sambucus nigra), and also the usual cosmetic carriers, diluents and auxiliary substances and, if appropriate, 2-ethylhexyl p-dimethylaminobenzoate. The preparations are prepared by extracting elderflower with aqueous alcohol or with water and homogenizing the extract obtained with skin-friendly traeger, diluents and auxiliaries and optionally with 2-ethylhexyl p-dimethylaminobenzoate. The preparations according to the invention have a skin-care effect and absorb the UV light in the range of 200-360 nm.
