abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 1-tertiary alkyl-substituted naphthyridine and quinolinecarboxylic acids as antibacterial agents. There are described and disclosed novel naphthyridine and quinoline carboxylic acids having a 1-tertiary alkyl substituent, processes for their preparation, compositions containing them and their use in the treatment of bacterial infections in warm-blooded animals. Also described and disclosed are new amines and intermediates used in the preparation of the naphthyridine and quinoline carboxylic acids.
