titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THIOPHENCARBONIC ACID ESTERS
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of Thiophencarbonsaeureestern. The aim of the invention is to develop a process for the preparation of 5-alkoxycarbonylmethylthio or 5-hydrazinocarbonylmethylthio-3-amino-4-furfurylaminocarbonylthiophene-2-carboxylic acid esters. These thiophenecarboxylic acid esters can be used as organic intermediates for the preparation of potentially bioactive compounds. According to the invention, the thiophenecarboxylic acid esters of the general formula III or IV in which R is an alkoxy radical can be prepared by reacting the N-furfuryl-cyanoacetamide with carbon disulfide and halocarboxylic acid esters of the general formula I in which R has the above meaning and X represents a halogen atom, in the presence of sodium alcoholates of general formula II wherein R is as defined above, and optionally by subsequent treatment with hydrazine.
