The invention relates to a process for the preparation of (1-benzyl-ethylenediamine) -platinum (II) complexes for use as medicaments. The aim of the invention is the provision of new compounds with tumor-inhibiting action. According to the invention, (1-benzyl-ethylenediamine) -platinum (II) complexes of general formula I are prepared in which, for example, the radicals R 1, R 2, R 3 and R 4 are identical or different, are hydrogen, a C 1 -C 6 -alkyl group, a benzyl group or a Phenyl, and B is a thienyl radical, an indolyl radical, an imidazolyl radical and others, X is the equivalent of a physiologically acceptable anion.
