abstract | The invention relates to a method for the treatment of plants. The object of the invention is to provide an antiviral agent which is effective in the treatment and prevention of a variety of plant diseases caused by viruses or viroids, which is effective even at low concentrations and which plants in different stages of development by various methods can be effectively administered. According to the invention, the compound 1-bD-ribofuranosyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid amide and its 2,3,5-triacetyl or 5-butyryl derivatives are used as such or together with other antiviral agents or penetrants for the treatment of or used for the prevention of diseases caused by viruses or viroids in plants. The method according to the invention is effective, inter alia, against the following specific viruses: potexviruses, potyviruses, closteroviruses, tymoviruses, caraviruses, cucumuviruses, Ilarviruses, tombus viruses, tobamoviruses, bromoviruses, tomato-bronze spot viruses and lucerne mosaic viruses. |
