titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR CLEANING COLOR COUPLERS
abstract The invention relates to a process for the purification of color couplers for silver halide-based photographic color materials. The object and the object of the invention are a process for the separation of the long-chain aliphatic by-products of non-diffusing dye couplers obtained as a crude product during the preparation. The color couplers are to be obtained with a high degree of purity and without loss of yield. According to the invention, the process is carried out in such a way that the color couplers to be purified or their intermediates, if they already contain long-chain aliphatic by-products, are dissolved in dichloromethane or a dichloromethane / alcohol mixture and mixed with an alcoholic, a water-alcoholic or an aqueous urea solution. The resulting solid, consisting of the urea inclusion compounds of the long chain aliphatic by-products and excess urea, is separated and the solution is recovered from the solution by removing the solvents.
