titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PRODUCING HYDROPHOBER MASKING COLOR COUPLER |
abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of hydrophobic masking dye couplers used in color negative photographic films for masking undesired side absorptions of the magenta and blue-green image dyes. The aim and object of the invention are to find a process for the preparation of hydrophobic masking color couplers by reacting a diazonium salt with hydrophobic color couplers, which allows the use of cheaper and the environment only slightly polluting auxiliary bases, can be dispensed with the recovery. The solvents used should be recovered with little technical effort. The process according to the invention for producing hydrophobic masking color couplers comprises reacting a solution or suspension of a hydrophobic color coupler in a water-immiscible organic solvent with an aqueous solution or suspension of a diazonium salt in the presence of an aqueous solution or suspension of a basic reacting compound of an alkali metal halide. or alkaline earth metal and in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst with lipophilic cation or with lipophilic anion. |
