titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE SELECTIVE POLYMERIZATION OF BUTADIENE FROM C LOW 4 FRACTIONS
abstract The invention relates to a process for the selective polymerization of butadiene (1,3) from C4 fractions by means of low molecular weight mixed Polylithiuminitiatoren. The aim is to carry out the polymerization of butadiene from the mixture without prior separation of the other constituents of the C4 fraction and without their incorporation into the polymer. It has been found that butadiene (1,3) can selectively be converted into star-shaped polybutadienes and their molecular weights can be adjusted in a targeted manner if the initiators used are reaction products of divinylbenzene with trilithium organo compounds. With these initiators, terminally functional polymers having an average functionality of from 3 to 4.5 can be prepared after chain termination with electrophilic reagents. The polymers are mixtures of hexa- and trifunctional polymers.
