titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF GLYCOLIC ACID ESTERS
abstract Process for the preparation of glycolic acid esters which are used as an intermediate for the production of ethylene glycol. The aim of the invention is to develop a process favorable for the industry for the production of glycolic acid and its esters on fixed-bed catalysts. This object is achieved by reacting formaldehyde donating substances with CO and an alcohol in 2 reaction stages in the liquid medium at 353 to 403 K and pressures of 0.1 to 20 MPa of acidic solid catalysts.
