| abstract |
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of terephthalic acid over Terephthalsaeuredimethylester from p-xylene and methanol. The aim of the invention is to provide an improved process, with which terephthalic acid can be produced economically in large-scale plants in an economical manner. According to the invention, the methanol-containing Bruedenfraktion and the methanol-water mixture is decomposed by rectification under elevated pressure and elevated temperature in a methanol-rich overhead fraction and an aqueous bottom phase, the methanol obtained at the top of the rectification taken off steam under elevated pressure and the esterification of the oxidate with by Compression on esterification pressure and esterification temperature brought carried methanol-containing vapor. |
