The invention relates to a block of a koernigen promoted iron oxide catalyst for ammonia synthesis. The object of the invention is to provide such a catalyst block which has low hygroscopicity, low hydraulic resistance, high mechanical compressive strength and the same catalytic activity as the starting co-catalyst. According to the present invention, a block of a co-promoted iron oxide catalyst for ammonia synthesis is provided comprising a carboxylic promoted iron oxide catalyst, aluminate of a metal and reinforcing elements. As metal aluminate, the catalyst block according to the invention contains the aluminate of an alkaline earth metal.
