The invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel aminoguanidine derivatives of the formula (I) in which the substituents R 1 to R 7 may have, for example, the following: R 1 to R 3 are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R 4 and R 5 are alkyl, R 6 and R 7 are hydrogen , Alkyl or alkylene. Other possibilities are apparent from the claim. Several variants of the method are proposed. For example, prepared by reacting 2-methyl-phenylhydrazine hydrochloride (solvent n-propanol) with dimethyl cyanamide and subsequent reaction of the reaction product with hexane 1- (2-methyl-phenyl) -4,4-dimethyl-aminoguanidine hydrochloride. The new compounds have a good antiarrhythmic effect and a fight against cardiac arrhythmias, without this occurring in the usual anti-arrhythmic preparations adverse unfavorable side effects occur.
