titleOfInvention METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF DEXTRAN
abstract The invention is in the field of microbiological syntheses. The aim of the invention is a continuous production process for dextran with a minimum technological effort and a relatively high biological safety of the overall process. The present invention is a continuous biochemical dextran synthesis occurring in one step of the process. A sucrose-containing nutrient solution of p H 8-10 - preferably 9 - is continuously fed to a column fermenter. The fermentation process takes place in the vertical direction. The dextran produced according to the present invention can be used for use in medicine as a blood plasma substitute and in various fields of technology as a stabilizer for solutions, suspensions, emulsions, as a thickener and as an adjuvant in the production of film material. In addition, it can also serve as a starting material for the preparation of dextran derivatives.
