abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 4-nitrodiphenylamines by reacting 4-nitrohalobenzenes with primary aromatic amines in the presence of potassium carbonate and copper compounds. The aim of the invention is to provide an improved process by which 4-nitrodiphenylamines can be obtained in a short reaction time and with high purity and yield. According to the invention, 4-nitrochlorobenzene is reacted with aniline to give 4-nitrodiphenylamine, at least another compound of a metal of III., IV., V. and VI. Main group or the II., IV., V., VI., VII. And VIII. Subgroup of the Periodic Table of the Elements and optionally the formyl derivative of an aromatic amine added. Preference is given to using compounds of thallium, tin, bismuth, zinc, mercury, vanadium, chromium, manganese and cobalt and, if appropriate, additionally cesium compounds. |
