abstract The invention relates to an improved process for the manufacture of polyacrylonitrile fibers, in which the polymers are dissolved in an organic solvent and shaped into casings by one of the known wet spinning processes. The aim and task are to adjust the coagulation conditions by suitable composition of the coagulation bath so that the spinning process is made stable and the uncontrolled formation of tarry and resinous decomposition products is reduced. According to the invention, this is achieved in such a way that the adjustment of the hydroxyl numbers proposed in the main patent is carried out by addition of dihydric alcohols having at most 4 C atoms. The process described in the main patent 201 160 for fiber production remains unchanged.
