titleOfInvention PRE-TREATMENT METHOD FOR AUTO CATALYTIC SILVER DECISION
abstract Pretreatment process for the autocatalytic silver deposition from an aqueous solution to base metals, preferably to copper or copper alloys, which are provided, if necessary, autocatalytically with a nickel or nickel alloy layer. The aim of the invention is the avoidance of silver losses with a consistently high layer quality, without reducing the utility value properties, in coating mass production increase in productivity. The task is to produce evenly thick adherent silver layers and to prevent contamination of the silver plating solution by dissolving the substrate material. According to the invention, in the pretreatment process, the workpiece is catalytically loaded with active hydrogen by means of an alkaline solution and rinsed in deionized water before being silvered. The pretreatment solution used is potassium carbonate with surfactant or sodium hydroxide. Areas of application are electronics, microelectronics, circuit technology and jewelry industry.
