abstract The invention relates to a process for preparing 5-aryl-2-thioxo-2H-1,3-dithiolo (4,5-d) thiazoles of the general formula by reacting dialkali salts of 2-aryl-4,5-dimercaptothiazoles with thiophosgene. The aim of the invention is to find a preparatively simple process for the preparation of the title compounds, which give importance as intermediates for subsequent syntheses.
