abstract The present invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of penicillanic acid esters of general formula I. The process according to the invention is characterized in that e.g. 1 mol of a compound of formula II with at least 1 mol of a compound of formula III in a reaction-inert solvent at room temperature. A preferred feature of the process of the invention is the use of acetone or dimethylformamide as a reaction inert solvent.
