abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 1-carboxy-azaalkanoylindolin-2-carboxylic acids for use as medicaments, for example for the treatment of heart diseases such as heart failure. The aim of the invention is the provision of hypotensive, antihypertensive and bradycardic compounds. According to the invention, compounds of the formula I are prepared in which, for example: Ph is unsubstituted 1,2-phenylene or an optionally substituted 1,2-phenylene; R 1 is lower-valent, lower-alkyl or lower-alkyl; R is lower-2 lower-alkyl or HPh-lower-alkyl; and each of the symbols R deep 3, R deep 4 and R deep 5 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; their amides, mono- or di-lower alkylamides, lower alkyl esters, (amino, mono- or di-lower alkylamino, carboxy or carboxy-lower alkoxy) -lower alkyl esters, and their salts. You can e.g. by hydrolysis of a compound of formula II wherein at least one of the symbols V and W is cyano and the other represents the said free, amidated or esterified carboxy group. |
