abstract The invention relates to a solid, inorganic foam having a cell structure consisting of a layered mineral or of several layered minerals, and a process for the production of inorganic foams, consisting in the gasification of a suspension of a layered mineral or of several layered minerals in a liquid medium, in the shaping of the gasified suspension and the removal of the liquid medium from the shaped gasified suspension. Particular emphasis is placed on the suitability of the foam and the foam products for fire safety and insulation.
