abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel taurine derivatives for use as medicaments. The aim of the invention is the provision of taurine derivatives with improved pharmacological properties, in particular with anticonvulsant and antiarrhythmic action for the treatment of epilepsy and cardiac arrhythmias. According to the invention, phthalyltaurinamides of the formula ## STR4 ## are prepared in which R deep 1 = H R deep 2 = a lower alkyl group with up to 4 carbon atoms or an acetyl group or in which NR deep 1 R deep 2 = N and optionally their pharmaceutical application forms.
