titleOfInvention OXYGENABLE MERCAPTOORGANOSILOXANE MASS AND ITS USE IN THE MANUFACTURE OF HOEHERMOLEKULAR PRODUCTS
abstract For the preparation of oxygen-hardenable mercaptoorganosiloxane compositions which are stable in the absence of oxygen, the following constituents are mixed together in the practical absence of oxygen (A) 100 parts by weight of a mercapto-functional organosiloxane having on average at least two mercapto-functional substituents per molecule; (B) 0 to 200 parts by weight of at least one filler, (C) a catalytic amount, preferably an amount of 0.1 to 6 parts by weight, of an iron carbonyl catalyst selected from Fe (CO) deep 5, Fe deep 2 (CO) deep 9, Fe deep 3 (CO) deep 12, dicyclopentadienyldieisentetracarbonyl, butadienedicentricarbonyl and / or cyclohexadienedicentricarbonyl and (D) 0.1 to 6 parts by weight of an acid satisfying certain criteria. The above compositions polymerize or, at room temperature under the influence of oxygen, harden to higher molecular weight products. The compositions are particularly suitable as coatings because they have a rapid surface hardening at room temperature. They can be used to produce elastomeric sealants whose surface is no longer tacky and less susceptible to surface contamination by foreign matter, such as dust, during their hardening.
