abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 3-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase. The object of the invention is to provide a cost effective method which provides an enzyme of high specific activity. The object is seen to produce the desired enzyme by culturing a new strain on previously unused culture substrates. The essence of the invention consists in cultivating the strain Pseudomonas putida either on culture substrates which decompose acetoacetate or hydroxybutyrate or on substrates which consist of straight-chain hydrocarbons C & ind6! to C & ind10! consist.
