abstract The invention relates to the production of staple fibers by cutting fiber ribbons in the production of man-made fibers. The object of the invention is to cut chemical fibers with a lengthwise analogous composition of natural fibers in order to ensure effective and trouble-free processing on natural fiber-processing machines. The invention has for its object to develop an apparatus for producing staple fibers, with which it is possible to produce from a quasi-endless synthetic fiber strand a natural fibers analogous processable mixture of staple fibers in grosztechnischen Masze. This is achieved by constructing the device for cutting from a pressure roller pair, a knife roller and a counter roller, wherein on the circumference of the knife roller knives are mounted at different distances and this knife roller is connected by a constantly veraenderliches gear transmission with a crank loop. This combination achieves a very irregular cutting sequence. The invention can be applied where materials are to be cut irregularly, especially in the chemical fiber industry.
