abstract The invention relates to a photographic material based on silver halide emulsions having an antihalation layer containing synthetic polymers as a binder. The aim and task is to create a photographic material with an antihalation layer with improved physico-mechanical properties. It may contain both organic dyes and dispersed Rusz. The antihalation layer is to be improved in such a way that adhesion of the emulsion layer to the antihalation layer is prevented, good distribution of the rusz particles in the layer is achieved, so that no abrasion occurs on the head machines and a low surface resistance is always ensured. This is achieved in that the antihalation layer contains as binder a copolymer of maleic anhydride with recurring structural units of the general formula I. It means R & ind1! an aliphatic radical preferably having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R & ind2! an aliphatic radical preferably having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
