abstract The invention relates to gear lubricants, in particular gear oils for the lubrication of highly loaded gears, which have an excellent pressure capacity, combined with a high Antioxidants- and anti-wear effect. It has been found that such transmission oils are obtained when corresponding transmission base oils with 1 to 10 wt .-% high sulfur dithiophosphates of the general formula III, Me in the metal or ammonium cation, X is a structural element of the trithiolane type, Y is X or an alkyl group in the Range from C to C20. The EP effectiveness of such gear oils can be significantly increased by the addition of 0.1 to 2 wt .-% of an organic nitro compound.
