titleOfInvention Method of production of alternative biofuel from waste fat sludge
abstract The method of production of alternative biofuel from waste fat sludge consists in two-stage to three-stage direct esterification of contaminated fat sludge with single-function alcohols. The reaction is catalyzed by alkali hydroxide metered according to the contamination of the fat sludge in an amount of from 2 to 10% by weight, based on the weight of the fat sludge. The reaction time is from 2 to 8 hours depending on the alcohol or combination of alcohols used, and the reaction temperature is in the range of 65 ° C to 85 ° C, derived from the boiling point of the corresponding alcohol or combination of alcohols. Upon completion of the esterification, a mixture of higher fatty acid esters begins to separate from the original material. Subsequently, the reaction mixture is separated on a filtration or decanter, after which the mixture of higher fatty acid esters in the filtrate is continued to distillation, where the excess alcohol is recovered and an alternative biofuel as distillation residue. As a by-product, the solid filter cake is intended for subsequent processing, in particular for composting or use for the production of fertilizers.
