Method for reducing vapor pressure to C.sub.3 .n. to C.sub.12 .n.high-carbon based motor fuel blends for conventional spark-ignition internal combustion engines, containing from 0.1 to 20% by volume of ethanol, in addition to C.sub.3.n. to C.sub.12.n. the hydrocarbon component (a) and the ethanol component (b) are present in the fuel mixture with an oxygen-containing component (c) in an amount of 0.05 to 15% by volume, based on the total volume of the fuel mixture, wherein component (c) is selected from at least one of the following types of compounds: alcohol, dialkyl ether, ketone, alkanoic acid alkyl ester, hydroxyketone, alkanoic acid ketone ester, oxygen containing heterocyclic compound; and a component (d) selected from at least one C.sub.6.n hydrocarbon. to C.ub.12, in such an amount that the volume ratio (b): ((c) + (d)) is from 1: 200 to 200: 1. |
