titleOfInvention | Liquid geopolymer resin for the manufacture of bulk-stable reinforced composites and a method for producing it |
abstract | The liquid geopolymer resin contains the main components SiO 2, Al 2 O 3. as well as phosphates or borates. It can be stored at a temperature of at most -18 degC for up to six months, when it is useful for the production of reinforced composites volume stable at temperatures from 250 to 900 degC. The method for producing a liquid geopolymer resin is that a silicate-containing solid component, preferably a thermal silica having a primary particle size, is in the range of 0.1 to 5 µm, containing 1 to 3 wt. alumina, and also kaolin, metakaolin, alumina or aluminum hydroxide, mixed with a liquid component comprising a potassium hydroxide solution or potassium waterglass, as well as phosphoric acid, potassium phosphates, boric acid or borates. The liquid geopolymer resin can be used to impregnate the fibers and then cure the composite at a temperature of 50 to 115 degC for at least 30 minutes, preferably pultrusion technology. |
