Disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising as active ingredient tolterodine or a tolterodine derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of tolterodine or a derivative thereof which exhibits a controlled release of said active ingredient, wherein at least about 80 percent is released in vitro in pH 6.8 at pH 6.8 the active compound, wherein after oral administration to the patient, the pharmaceutical composition is capable of maintaining a substantially constant concentration of the active ingredient or active ingredients in the serum for 24 hours. Further described is the use of this pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of excessive bladder activity and gastrointestinal disorders. |
