A dry film-forming coating composition for use in coating pharmaceutical tablets, food supplements, foodstuffs, confectionery forms and agricultural seeds comprising polyvinyl alcohol, which constitutes 25 to 55% by weight. a composition, a plasticizer which is polyethylene glycol or glycerin, and talc, which constitutes 9 to 45 wt. composition. A liquid film-forming coating dispersion comprising non-aqueous components of the aforementioned dry coating composition and water. A method of coating the aforementioned substrates, comprising the steps of mixing non-aqueous components of the above dry coating composition with water to form an aqueous coating dispersion, applying an effective amount of the dispersion to said substrates, and drying the film coating formed on the substrates. |
