A parenteral composition comprising certain bis (phosphonate) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, as an active ingredient, a pharmaceutically acceptable chelating agent selected from ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA and diethylenetriaminepentaacetate, DTPA, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. These compositions are useful in the treatment and prevention of diseases including bone resorption, in particular osteoporosis, Paget's disease, cancer hypercalcemia and metabolic bone disease. They have improved local tolerability of the active ingredient when administered parenterally. A method for preparing them by mixing the ingredients. |
