titleOfInvention | A method for producing a composite wood product |
abstract | A method of manufacturing composite wood products having a ready-to-market side is to produce a binder-treated sintered wood fiber carpet. The slag carpet is fed into a mold cavity formed between the two press plates. The first pressing plate is a conventional hot pressing plate which is free of an opening. This conventional board may be smooth or patterned to emboss one surface of the finished product. The second press plate is a steam injection plate having steam injection ports. The mold cavity is sealed and the shampoo carpet is completely compacted. Through these injection holes, a first amount of steam is injected into the sintered carpet at a pressure and temperature sufficient to raise the temperature of at least a portion of the sintered carpet thickness to 100 .degree.C. It is allowed for the injected steam to be vented from the sintered carpet through these vapor injection openings, while entrapping the trapped air and trapped moisture. Further, a second amount of steam is injected into the sintered carpet through these injection holes at a pressure and temperature sufficient to cure the binder. This second amount of steam is further vented from the sintered carpet through these vapor injection openings before releasing the seal of the mold cavity. |
