titleOfInvention Industrial strain Scenedesmus quadricauda SeIV + VI green chlorococcal race Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Bréb
abstract The strain Scenedesmus quadricauda SeIV + VI, which is able to grow in the presence of high concentrations of both selenite and selenate (Na.sub.2.n.Se.s. .n.), optionally in a mixture of both compounds which are lethal to cells of the collection strain. This strain grows even at high selenium concentrations and is able to absorb significantly higher amounts of organically bound selenium than the control strain. In addition to autotrophic growth in photobioreactors, heterotrophs can also grow in fermenters.
