The subject of the present invention is a process for the preparation of adipic acid by reaction of water and carbon monoxide with at least one pentenic acid, in the presence of an iridium-based catalyst and of at least iodinated promoter, at a high temperature, under a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, in at least one solvent chosen from the group consisting of saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons and their halogenated derivatives, aromatic hydrocarbons and their halogenated derivatives, and aliphatic, aromatic or mixed ethers, the I/Ir atomic ratio being less than 20. |
