In the manufacture of a lightweight material comprising lightweight perlite, alkaline silicates or additives for aqueous alkaline silicates, the expanded perlite with a grain size of 0.8 to 6 mm is mixed with a mixture of aqueous alkali silicates, a hydrophobic agent, and optionally soluble or suspendable hardener, to a constant it is still a flowable product, is filled into molds, optionally compressed, and then heated using microwaves. |
