abstract |
Metal ions are extracted from aqueous solutions having a pH of between 3.5 and 8.5 into organic solvents using an alpha-aminocethoxime and / or an alpha-aminoaldehyde of formula III wherein R 1 is n. and R.sup.2.n. hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; and R.sup.4.n. is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, wherein at least one of R 5 is. and R.sup.4.n. it must be alkyl with 5 and more carbon atoms. The metal ions are recovered from the organic solutions by extraction to a strongly acidic aqueous solution having a pH of less than 2. The process is particularly suitable for copper isolation, copper and nickel separation, and for the recovery and refining of palladium. |
