abstract The 5'-deoxycytidine derivative of the general formula (I) wherein R 1 is n. is H or acetyl, propionyl, benzoyl, toluoyl, glycyl, alanyl, beta-alanyl, valyl or lysyl; R.sup.2.n. is H or -CO-OR.sup.4 wherein R.sup.4 is n. is a hydrocarbon group consisting of 1 to 15 C atoms, or - (CH 2 S 2) n-Y where Y is cyclohexyl or phenyl, and n is 0 to 4; R.sup.3.n. is H, bromo, iodo, CN, C.sub.1-4. alkyl, optionally halogen substituted, vinyl, or ethynyl, optionally substituted with a halogen atom or atoms, C 1-7 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an aromatic ring with 1 or more nitrogen heteroatoms; wherein R.sup.2.n. and R.sup.3.n. they are not simultaneously H atoms; a method for its manufacture and use, and a pharmaceutical composition and kit thereof. This derivative helps deliver 5-fluorouracil and its derivatives to tumor tissues.
