titleOfInvention | Cyanoguanidines, a process for their preparation and use, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them |
abstract | Cyanoguanidines of formula I or tautomeric forms thereof, wherein the pyridine ring attachment is in the 3 or 4 position and wherein R.sub.1.n. represents one or more substituents which may be the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, carboxy, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkyl. alkoxy or (C 1-4-4-alkoxy) carbonyl, nitro, amino, or cyano, and Q is C 4-8. a divalent hydrocarbon radical, which may be straight, branched, cyclic, saturated or unsaturated, and X represents carbonyl, carbonylamino, aminocarbonyl, oxycarbonyloxy, oxycarbonyl, carbonyloxy, aminocarbonyloxy, oxythiocarbonylamino or oxythiocarbonyloxy; Y is benzylene or phenylene; and R.sub.2.n. represents one or more substituents, which may be the same or different, and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl, hydroxyC 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkyl. 1-4.n.alkoxy, hydroxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl, cyano, carboxamido, sulfamoyl, nitro, amino, carboxy, (C.sub.1-4.n.alkoxy) carbonyl and benzyloxy groups; and pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic salts and N-oxides thereof. These compounds are useful for the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases characterized by abnormal cell differentiation and / or proliferation, such as psoriasis or cancer. Process for the preparation of these compounds and their use and pharmaceutical preparations containing them |
