abstract | A method for producing polymers by polymerizing a monomer with an ethylenic double bond in a coating film polymerization vessel to prevent the formation of polymer deposits on the surfaces of their inner walls and other surfaces. The coating film is formed by applying a first coating liquid comprising a compound selected from the group consisting of an aromatic compound with 5 or more conjugated .pi. and a heterocyclic compound having 5 or more conjugated .pi. and then applying a second coating liquid to the first layer. Both the first and second coating liquids are applied by steam as a carrier. The second layer has a surface which, when contacted with a solution of a water / vinyl chloride monomer mixture in a weight ratio of 1: 1 at 50 degC for 1 h, shows a mixing angle with water of less than 60.degree. to form a coating film and thereby improve productivity, it can increase the effectiveness of preventing the formation of polymer deposits, can reduce the admixture of colored particles into the polymeric products obtained in this way, can reduce the formation of fisheyes and the initial coloring of the formed products, and can improve the quality of polymeric products formed therefrom or molded final products |
