The optically active adsorbent comprises an optically active crosslinked polymer which is covalently bound to the support. The optically active polymer comprises optically active derivatives of dicarboxylic acids, diamines, diols or hydroxy acids, such as tartaric acid in particular. For example, the carrier is silica. The process for producing an adsorbent consists in radical or hydrosilylation polymerization in the presence of a carrier. The use of an adsorbent in the chromatographic separation of racemic mixtures into enantiomers.
